Practice
Practice statement
Paperspace is an architecture and interior experience design practice based in Seattle, WA.
The studio approaches design as a discipline of listening — understanding how a space needs to perform before determining how it should look. Each project is developed through close collaboration with clients, shaped by an equal attention to the experiential and the technical.
Paperspace works across hospitality, retail, and food & beverage — from neighborhood boutiques to flagship brand environments — but always with the same commitment: to produce spaces that are intentional in their design, honest in their materiality, and meaningful to the people who move through them.
Approach
The work at Paperspace is grounded in a methodical, step-by-step process shaped by experience from complex retail and hospitality projects.
Every project begins with a question: who is this space actually for, and what do they need to feel and do within it? Before any design work begins, we invest in understanding the client's goals, their customer's journey, and the specific moments that matter most. That foundation shapes every decision that follows.
We develop concepts through iteration — testing ideas early and often, refining them against both creative and operational criteria. Good design doesn't choose between beauty and function. It earns both.
We believe the best outcomes come from open, honest relationships with everyone involved — clients, contractors, fabricators, and consultants. The people who build the work are as important as the people who commission it, and we treat those relationships accordingly.
Paperspace maintains a limited number of projects at any time. This is a deliberate choice — it ensures every client receives our full attention, from the first conversation to the final walkthrough.
Capabilities
Paperspace works across the full architectural scope, from early studies to completed buildings.
